What we measure on this site, and what we do not

We want to know which pages people read and what they search for. Here is how we measure that without cookies, without storing IP addresses and without third-party scripts.

A website you cannot measure is a website you cannot improve. But most analytics tools ask you to accept cookies and send your browsing to a third party. We chose a different route.

What we record

When you browse the public pages we record which page you viewed, where you came from, which links and buttons you clicked, which sections of a page scrolled into view, how far you scrolled and how long the page was visible. If you use the site search, we record what you searched for and whether anything was found.

That tells us which parts of the site help and which do not, and it shows content people look for and cannot find.

How it stays private

  • No cookies and no stored identifier. Nothing is written to your browser to recognise you.
  • No IP addresses in the records. To count visitors we use a one-way hash of your IP address and browser type that changes every day, so a visit on one day cannot be linked to a visit on another.
  • Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are honoured. If your browser sends either signal, we record nothing.
  • We never read what you type into forms.
  • The customer area and sign-in pages are not measured.

Google Analytics and Matomo, without the scripts

We also forward the same events from our server to Google Analytics 4, so that reports live in a familiar place, and to our own Matomo server. No Google or Matomo script runs in your browser, and neither receives your IP address or a cookie, only the daily hash.

This is separate from the forms: when you send us a contact or estimate request we do keep your IP address and browser type with it, as the privacy policy explains.

How long we keep it

Detailed records are deleted automatically after 400 days. They are not linked to you as an individual.

The full description is in the privacy policy, and you can ask us anything at hello@officecrm.app.
